The Commit Boundary
What is a Commit Boundary?
The "commit boundary" is the moment when something becomes permanent. Before this point, you can edit freely. After it, the record is locked.
By Feature
| Feature | Draft State (Editable) | Committed (Permanent) | |---------|------------------------|----------------------| | Messages | While composing | After clicking Send | | Expenses | While in draft | After clicking Submit | | Timeline Entries | Never — saved immediately | When you click Save | | Calendar Events | While creating | After saving (edits logged) | | Schedule Requests | While composing | After submitting | | Pre-Approvals | While drafting | After submitting |
Why This Matters
The commit boundary gives you control:
- Take your time composing messages
- Review expenses before submitting
- Save drafts and come back later
Once you commit, you're confident the record is trustworthy.
