How Messaging Works

CoParentCompass messaging creates a permanent, organized record of all communications about your children.

Key Principles

Organized by Topic Each conversation has a subject ("Summer Camp Registration," "Dentist Appointment"). All messages about that topic stay together, making it easy to find discussions later.

Permanent Record Once sent, messages cannot be edited or deleted. This protects both parents from "I never said that" disputes. The record is the record.

Read Receipts You can see exactly when your message was read:

  • ✓ — Sent
  • ✓✓ — Delivered
  • ✓✓ (colored) — Read (with timestamp)

Platform vs. External Messaging

Platform Messaging (Co-Parent Mode)

  • Messages stay within CoParentCompass
  • Real-time delivery
  • Read receipts
  • Both parents have identical records

External Messaging (Solo Mode or external recipients)

  • Messages sent via email
  • Replies come back into the platform
  • Full record maintained even if co-parent isn't on the platform
  • Can include attorneys, grandparents, therapists
