Settlement and Payment

How Settlement Works

At the end of each settlement period (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly):

  1. System calculates:

    • All approved expenses each parent paid
    • The net balance based on split percentages
  2. One parent owes the other a single amount

  3. You can see:

    • Hero settlement card — Who owes whom and how much
    • Breakdown — Your expenses vs. their expenses
    • Detail view — Every expense in the period

Settlement Periods

Set your preference in Settings → Expense Setup:

  • Weekly — Settle every 7 days
  • Bi-weekly — Every 14 days
  • Monthly — Once per month

Making Payment

CoParentCompass calculates what's owed but doesn't process payments. You pay via:

  • Venmo, Zelle, or similar services
  • Check
  • Cash (not recommended—harder to document)

After paying, you can mark the period as settled.
