Adding Children

Why Add Children?

Children are central to CoParentCompass. Adding them allows you to:

  • Assign custody schedules per child (essential for different custody arrangements)
  • Tag expenses to specific children
  • Filter calendar views by child
  • Enable the Children's Portal (optional)
  • Generate per-child reports

Step-by-Step

  1. Navigate to Settings → Family Members
  2. Click "Add Child"
  3. Enter the child's information:
    • First Name (required)
    • Last Name (optional — disabled for children under 13)
    • Date of Birth (optional but recommended)
    • Nickname (optional—appears in some views)
  4. Click Save
  5. Repeat for additional children

Notes

  • Data Minimization: For privacy and COPPA compliance, we do not store last names for children under 13 years old.
  • Children can have different custody schedules from each other
  • You can add children at any time
  • Child information (excluding private logs) is visible to both parents in Co-Parent Mode
